Mandla Mandela who is Nelson Mandela's grandson is the chief of the Mvezo Traditional Council. He was born in 1974 in a place called Orlando East, Soweto. He was installed as chief in 2007 at 32 years of age. The tribe had looked that Nelson Mandela would claim his position as chief but instead he selected Mandla for the position as his father was already deceased. Mandla's duties as chief are settling disputes among tribal members, tribal ceremonies and to represent the tribe on political issues.

Mandla holds a degree in Politics from the Rhodes University.
